I don’t know a great deal of background about this one, but I do love this amazing Scandinavian-style property in Climping, near Littlehampton, West Sussex.

After all, who wouldn’t love it? This is a house that stops you dead in your tracks. Look at that shape. It’s not often that we have spotted triangular-shaped houses (or even A-frame houses), although one or two have been seen in the past. The William Morgan house in Florida is perhaps the most memorable.

This one almost certainly isn’t by William Morgan, but as I hinted at above, I don’t know who the architect is here or indeed the era. I could guess 1970s, but it well have sneaked out at the back end of the 1960s. It’s not important. The end result is our main concern.

A house that offers a dramatic design from the outside and doesn’t let us down inside. The timber, the glazing, the exposed brick, this is everything we could wish for.

Certainly no time capsule. A look at the kitchen tells us that. But someone has either maintained this very well or restored it without killing off both the character and the original detailing. Either way, someone deserves a pat on the back. The midcentury Scandi vibe is alive and well here.

There is perhaps more space than you might too. The house is laid out over three floors, with around 2,700 sq. ft. of accommodation within.

On the ground floor, the reception hall leads to a large, triple aspect, open plan sitting room with feature brick fireplace. Two sets of patio doors from here access the terrace and gardens. A dining room also leads on from here, again with garden access.

To the left of the hallway is the fitted kitchen and just along from it is the breakfast room with wood burning stove more patio doors to the gardens. The remaining downstairs rooms are currently used as a study and library.

The first floor has a rear aspect master bedroom with an en-suite shower room and doors to the feature balcony. There are two further bedrooms and a family bathroom on this floor too, a large loft room over the garage, with skylight and power, also accessed from this floor. That’s not quite it, with a second floor offering three loft rooms suitable for ‘a variety of purposes’.

We mentioned the garage, but we haven’t mentioned the extensive gardens. They come in at around two acres, with potential for further development (with the right permissions) or you could leave it as it is and just enjoy the tranquility of the terraces, lawns and your own woodland area.

A dream of a place, this Scandinavian-style property is on the market with a guide price of £725,000.
