Big thanks to Gavin Upstill for spotting this absolute bargain modern house – a 1970s four bedroom modernist property in Kilrenny, Potterton, Aberdeen.
Set in a rural area (with great views), but commutable distance to Aberdeen, this is a distinctive detached property that’s likely to be individually architect designed, although the agent doesn’t offer any details of it. It’s also sat in half an acre of land, so plenty of space to play with too.
It does need updating, but cosmetically really – oil heating and double glazing have already been sorted and some of the rooms do look fairly recently worked on, even if the overall ‘feel’ inside is of the 1970s.
In terms of accommodation, there’s an entrance hallway, a ‘generously proportioned’ lounge, dining room, decent-sized dining kitchen, utility room and four well-sized bedrooms. There’s also a bathroom with a white three piece suite and separate shower enclosure.
Outside, as we mentioned earlier, plenty of garden, along with a large driveway with ample off street parking for several vehicles, a large paved patio area and a number of large cellars below the property, which can be used as storage space.
But there is a downside. According to the agent, the house is ‘of non-traditional construction’, so is ‘therefore un-mortgageable’. Which perhaps accounts for the rather cheap price in terms of what you get. Offers over £195,000 are invited.
