We have featured houses here in the past, but this apartment in the Michael Lyell Associates-designed Oak Hill Park, Hampstead Village, London NW3 is a first.
The development itself dates from the early 1960s, replacing some existing Victorian villas and in a rather pleasant setting. In fact, residents get access to the extensive communal gardens (with tennis court), with the apartments looking out over that green space too.
The interesting thing about this apartment is that it is pretty much unmodernised. That means it needs work. But it also means no one has tampered with the design.
So the spacious 22 ft double aspect reception / dining room still had its wood panel ceilings, with floor to ceiling glazing from where you can access the balcony area.
But there’s no getting away from this place needing some work, something you will have to budget for. And this place doesn’t come cheap in the first place.
Beyond that reception, you also get three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the communal outdoor space, of-street parking and a porter service, which will doubtless mean a service charge of some substance too.
Despite that, we can’t see this hanging about on the market too long, even with an asking price of £1,450,000.
